Cilantro lime turkey burgers

Scrumptious grilling

For our 5th of July party, Rachel and I made totally awesome turkey burgers. We made them slider-sized simply because the only buns I could find were itty bitty. Typically, this recipe should easily feed a family of four — we doubled it and got about 12 sliders.

Cilantro lime turkey burgers with sharp cheddar & guac: heaven on a bun.

CILANTRO LIME TURKEY BURGERS

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BURGER PATTIES
1 pound ground turkey
2 green onions (or more — eyeball it)
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 TBS chopped cilantro (or more — eyeball it)
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
juice of half a lime

THE FIXINGS
Cheese (pepperjack or sharp cheddar please!)
Buns of your choice
Guacamole

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl until combined. Form into patties of your desired size and grill or fry in a pan 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until cooked all the way through. Top with cheese and cover the grill/pan with lid for a minute or so to melt the cheese. To assemble, place each burger on a bun and top with guacamole. Dig in.

These burgers are so tasty they don't even need the bun or the guac. But when would I ever deny myself bread or guacamole?
