Mad Planet: Retro Dance Party

Cheap beer, good tunes, great moves

Every Friday, Mad Planet hosts a retro dance party, spinning hits (and plenty of things I've never heard before) from the 80s and 90s. There's cheap Pabst Tall Boys and the chance to dance your heart out under a disco ball — what more do you need on a Friday night?

We started the night at a Fourth of July BBQ, complete with a photo shoot in the alley (thanks Noah!). Then it was on to Mad Planet and a very empty dance floor, save for the token characters. There was one lone man wriggling about in the middle of the floor and one Steampunk-style fellow in a tophat tearing it up on stage.

While this crowd (or lack-thereof) might deter some people, we delighted in the fact that we'd have so much more room to do the punch-run dance. And we did plenty of punch-running. Noah and Rachel also unleashed some of their best moves, and Adam and I had a blast like we always do when we dance. Corny alert: Dancing with Adam is one of my most favorite things. I love it almost as much as I love taking pictures of precious moments.

Rachel & Noah: Precious moments.

We had to wait for what felt like for-ev-er for the DJ to grant our request for "Come on Eileen." But once he did: Such joy! Such punch-running! Such a perfect way to end the night.
