"Everything is hunky-dunky."
In this festive romantic comedy from 1945, the wonderful Barbara Stanwyck plays a sort of Martha Stewart named Elizabeth Lane - the perfect cook, housewife, and mother with a magazine column detailing life on her farm in Connecticut. The catch? It's all a lie!
When a strapping young war hero is chosen to visit her Connecticut farm for a real homey Christmas, Elizabeth must stage an elaborate deception or risk losing her job at the magazine. While at times unbelievable or silly by today's standards, that's what makes this movie charming. And what better time of year to be charmed?
